For Early Future, the light designer Ingo Maurer is using several 132 x 33 millimeter OLED tiles which he assembles into a synthesis of the arts. For Maurer, unusual design is not an end in itself: "Early Future represents an important phase in the transition from abstract object to functional designer lighting". For many years, the Munich design expert has influenced the development of light as art and lighting design. In 1966 he exhibited the Bulb designer luminaire, which has been shown alongside other examples of his work in the Museum of Modern Art in New York since 1969. Ingo Maurer has received numerous distinctions for his avant-garde work with light.
